Eccosphere is about enabling people to connect with those that matter to them.
As a group, we are developing a service, available from most mobile phones and the web, that radically changes the way we think of who our network is, to whom we are available, and how we wish to connect with them . And yet there is nothing revolutionary: we are simply seeking to enable the richness of real world behavior to move freely into the digital, mobile world.
Eccosphere is focused on enabling people to share their experiences, person to person, gaining mutual understanding. In this sense, Eccosphere is an enabler, the experience is in the community. Real world contacts are the key to sharing and thus we have more to share with those that are physically closest to us, rather than seeking to iron out distances and homogenize the planet. We are firmly established in reality, and Eccosphere users are predominantly seeking to improve their real life, rather than live it through a second life.
We believe that:
- Our contribution is to the here and now, designed to suit our medium of choice, the mobile phone.
- Eccosphere exchanges and meetings are transient rather than a historical record, as may be found on the web.
- Simplifying the control people have over their availability will enhance their propensity to explore their possibilities and meet other people.
- While individuals have passions, that they may live through specific communities, their circle of life is wider than those passions.
- Social connections are a natural extension to normal connections, and not a separate activity.
Our first offering will be released to a small group of beta testers at the end of 2007. We plan to gradually open up over the first half of 2008.
